Waukesha VHP 9504GSI, a one-and-a-half-megawatt unit from Waukesha VHP series, is renowned for its high efficiency, robustness, and durability, characteristic of all units in the VHP line. It can reliably operate in constant power supply mode or provide peak load coverage as needed.
Waukesha VHP 9504GSI units stand as one of the most powerful ones in the VHP line.
The initial gas engines of the VHP (Very High Power) series were conceived and entered mass production by Waukesha in the mid-1960s. These units were the most potent in the company’s product line at the time and pioneered the utilization of associated petroleum gas as a fuel source. In less than a decade, VHP engines ascended to a prominent position in O&G production and processing, emerging as the primary power source for driving piston and centrifugal compressors, turbine and centrifugal pumps, drilling rigs, and electric generators.
Advancements in gas piston technologies, material innovations, production capabilities, and customer feedback prompted Waukesha engineers to swiftly integrate new developments into the VHP product line. This is how new modifications of this model emerge. Series 4 was introduced in 1999.
Since 2007, the VHP series engines have been manufactured in a new modification known as the Extender Series, which offers substantial enhancements to their technical and operational attributes.
- For the first time, the oil system began utilizing an oil reservoir positioned at the base of the power plant and integrated into the overall oil circulation circuit. The expanded oil capacity allowed for extending the intervals between oil replacements to 4,500 hours, equating to approximately six months!
- As a standard feature, the new modification of VHP engines includes oil filters positioned on the engine frame. Previously, this equipment was situated remotely and necessitated an individual pipeline for connection to the power plant. The adoption of cartridge-type oil filters has reduced the total time required for their replacement by almost 90%, to less than 15 minutes.
- For the first time, the basic package includes a pneumatic starter, which ensures the unit’s operational readiness. The drive belt for the water pump of the additional cooling circuit, connected to the engine crankshaft, is equipped with an automatic tensioning system.
- The Extender Series facilitates easier access to air filters for service personnel. Now, the process of replacing them does not necessitate special tools due to the improved design of fastening the air intake casing and the air filters themselves.
- The Extender Series consolidates all of the system’s sensor terminals in one location, under a removable casing on the front panel of the unit, facilitating emergency personnel to locate and troubleshoot low-current circuit problems.
- The design of the distribution box has also been updated to enhance compactness.
