Waukesha VHP 7044GSID S5 represents the latest modification of VHP engines - Series 5, which was launched into mass production in 2018. The primary distinction from Series 4 is the engine operation based on the Miller cycle.
In contrast to Series 4, Series 5 VHP gas engines can generate more power without imposing additional strain on engine components. Enriched mixture combustion technology utilizing the Miller cycle, alongside a modified cylinder head and updated piston design, facilitated this enhancement.
Employed in INNIO’s Waukesha P9394GSI engine as well, the Miller cycle redistributes workload from the piston to the turbocharger, diminishing combustion and exhaust temperatures while heightening efficiency. This attribute positions the L7044GSI S5 model as the pinnacle of efficiency within the VHP line.
The redesigned cylinder head enhances reliability and extends its lifespan by optimizing crucial internal temperature reductions, achieving improvements of up to 40%.
Waukesha VHP Series 5 piston design has been enhanced to minimize the presence of unburned hydrocarbons, thereby lowering emissions and fuel consumption. The piston operates at a lower temperature, enhancing fuel flexibility even at higher power ratings compared to previous models.
Enhancements to the ignition system extend spark plug replacement intervals to 4,000 hours, even with less expensive base metal plugs. Extended oil change intervals help reduce operating costs by reducing the frequency of site visits.
