Prometheus control system for the gas-fuelled genset comprises a main controller and an external color display with a diagonal size ranging from 8 to 17 inches. Both elements are housed within the control cabinet of the generator set for ease of control.
Prometheus hardware and software complex incorporates built-in protection functions for the generator set with both fixed and customizable parameters. The memory is designed to store an event log with a capacity of up to 4000 entries, facilitating diagnostics in case of emergency situations by enabling the generation of a list of recorded values. To connect external devices, Prometheus system features 12 discrete and 3 analog inputs, along with 12 discrete outputs, and digital data interfaces including RS232, RS485, and Modbus. All ports can be configured to suit user needs.
The external color TFT display measures 8 inches diagonally and features a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. It features a straightforward and intuitive interface, serving to display the information collected by the controller. Accessing all monitored parameters, event logs, and real-time trend screens can be achieved by pressing a single control key.
User authorization is automated through the use of a USB key. The USB port serves dual functionality, allowing for both the export/import of tables, graphs, user action histories, archives, and firmware to a USB drive. All software and instructions are provided by ETS-Astana exclusively in Russian.
LOAD SHARING MODE
Implementing a load-sharing mode can significantly enhance the operational performance of a power plant within a multi-unit station. This mode enables various benefits such as increased service life, decreased fuel and oil consumption, and minimized human error influence. Typically, the power plant within an enterprise comprises equipment from various manufacturers and production years, often featuring different control panels. In such scenarios, one set of generating equipment functions as the primary network, while the other units operate in a base power mode. No load sharing mode is used.
Outfitting generator sets with identical control panels enables the distribution of load, including both active and reactive power, among all units proportionally to their power during power surges. That is, individual pieces of equipment will operate as a single energy system. This operational mode guarantees improved performance metrics, including stable operation of the power complex and more uniform wear across the engines.
SYNCHRONIZATION
Synchronous operation is essential for even distribution of power in a multi-unit complex comprising a fleet of gas reciprocating power plants, diesel generator sets, and other generating equipment with different control panels. This enables the energy complex to respond reliably to abrupt load variations. This solution is applicable for both island mode operation and parallel operation with the grid.
All the necessary tools and modules for synchronization are integrated into Prometheus Basis complex. The operator only needs to activate this mode in the main menu of the panel or at a remote automated workstation by pressing the “GCB ON” key. Following this, the synchronization process will occur automatically.
GATEWAY for TOP LEVEL APCS
Prometheus control panel’s communication capabilities are highly sought after, offering streamlined remote control and maintenance of the generator set. They serve as convenient tools for developing advanced process control systems and cloud services, such as myPlant.
