The INNIO brand emerged following an agreement between Advent International Corporation, the largest private investment company, and the American financial and industrial behemoth GE (General Electric). As per the agreement finalized in mid-2018, the entirety of GE Distributed Power business was transferred to the ownership of the investment fund. Advent has acquired rights to both Waukesha and Jenbacher gas engine product lines, as well as the manufacturing facilities located in Austria, the USA, and Canada. The transaction amounted to $3.25 billion, making the purchase of GE Distributed Power one of the largest transactions in the global distributed power generation market. At the outset of 2019, Advent introduced a new brand for its newly acquired business, which was named INNIO.
